'Getting Your Garden Ready For The Returning Birds'
âGetting Your Garden Ready
For The Returning Birdsâ
This month the members of The Garden Club of Newtown will focus on birds with Margaret Robbins and her presentation âGetting your Garden Ready for the Returning Birdsâ on Tuesday, March 27, at 1 pm, in the first floor meeting room of Cyrenius H. Booth Library, at 25 Main Street.
Mrs Robbins, who owns Wild Birds Unlimited in Brookfield, plans to talk about plants that are beneficial to hummingbirds and other birds for food or shelter. She will also discuss the importance of providing birds with water all year long and will provide many tips and tricks on attracting specific types of birds to your yard.
Watching her parentsâ bird feeders began Mrs Robbinsâs fascination with birds at a very young age. An avid bird feeder and birder with a life list of over 400 different species, she studied bird biology at Cornell University Laboratory of Ornithology and has taught incubation and embryology.
Before opening Wild Birds Unlimited, she was employed by National Audubon Society in Greenwich and also led Audubon birding tours along the New England Coast and on the Baja Peninsula. She now leads local bird walks in the greater Danbury area as well as birding tours to Southeast Arizona.
This lecture is open to the public and a suggested contribution of $5 is requested from non-members.
Reservations are not needed, but additional information is available by calling 203-512-7320.
