Carlo Moscovici, 80, of Gainesville, Fla., died July 10 at Azalea Trace At The Villages in Florida.
M. Giovannella Moscovici, his wife of 51 years, survives him. He is also survived by his daughter, Marina Moscovici and her companion, M.J. Wheblen, of Newtown; a son, Paola Moscovici of Paris; and two grandchildren, Paolo and Anna.
Dr Moscovici was born in Cairo, Egypt, July 27, 1925, and moved to Florida from Denver in 1967. He was educated at the University of Rome, Italy, Faculty of Sciences, from 1946 to 1952 and received his PhD there. His postdoctoral fellow was at the National Foundation Infantile Paralysis with Dr A.B. Sabin in Cincinnati, Ohio. He served in many other professorial and research positions at universities and foundations in the United States and other countries, was a member of the American Society of Virology, The American Association for Advancement of Science, and published more than 100 papers during his lifetime. Dr Moscovici was a research scientist and professor in the department of pathology at the University of Florida and at the VA Medical Center in Gainseville.
Dr and Mrs Moscovici were both known worldwide for their contributions to the science industry. Traveling was not only for pleasure, but also for work.
