Flagpole Photographers Ready For A New Year Of Activities
The Flagpole Photographers Camera Club of Newtown is ready to begin a new year of activities. The first meeting for 2012-13 will be held in the meeting room at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, at 7:30 pm on Thursday, September 20.
All are welcome to attend.
The assigned subject for September is âNature,â which includes photos that have no evidence of the hand of man. There are two other categories: open color and black and white. Competitions are open to members only, but guests and other attendees are welcome to hear critiques by guest judges.
The first workshop of the year will be on Thursday, October 4, at 7:30 pm, at Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Road. Don Toothaker and Bob Ring from New England Photography Workshops will present âWhy New Englandâ and will focus on capturing fall foliage.
Flagpole Photographers will present their annual show at Newtown Municipal Center November 19 to December 14 during regular business hours (the main corridor, where exhibitions are presented, is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm). The theme of this yearâs show will be Newtown and Beyond. Photos taken in Newtown will be supplemented by photos taken around the world by traveling photographers.Â
A reception will take place on Sunday, November 18, from 2 to 4 pm. All are invited, and most images will be available for sale.Â
Flagpole Photographers is a local non-profit group that enables members to share their images and expertise, to learn and grow in their photography, and to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow photographers. Members have diverse backgrounds, with photographic skills ranging from beginning novices to professional photographers.
The clubâs season runs annually September through June, with monthly programs, occasional hands-on learning programs, and at least two exhibitions.
Dues are $30 per person or $50 for a family membership. Students may join at no charge.Â
