Hospital Hosting Free Two-Day Green Fair
DANBURY â Danbury Hospital is hosting its inaugural Green Fair, organized by the Danbury Health Systems Lean Green Team, on Monday, August 25, from 7 am to 4 pm, and Tuesday, August 26, from noon to 8 pm. The two-day Green Fair takes place in the Gerard D. Robilotti Conference Center located adjacent to the 5 Tower Main Lobby.
The Green Fair is free and open to the public and is geared toward educating consumers about becoming more environmentally friendly in their day-to-day lives by incorporating practices that help with energy and resource conservation that lessen our impact on the environment.
âWe want to inform the community about green principles and practices, while at the same time demonstrating how they can reduce energy costs and help save the environment,â said Kevin Narus, plant services manager and Lean Green Team captain. âDanbury Hospitalâs Lean Green Team anticipates making the Green Fair an annual event where we can provide updates on the latest and greatest ideas in environmental responsibility.â
Ecofriendly participating sponsors from Carrier, Connecticut DOT, CL&P, Digital Network Services (DNS), TechniArt, and Yankeegas, as well as members of the Connecticut chapter of the United Stated Green Building Council will be available to help attendees learn about managing home energy, calculate and learn how to reduce personal âcarbon footprintsâ (through a home energy audit) that will demonstrate an individualâs current energy usage, and discuss ways that will help people reduce their energy consumption to save money, energy, and the environment.
Danbury Hospital facilities and environmental services representatives will introduce practices in place that benefit the environment, streamline operations, cut costs, and contribute to a healthier place for patients and employees.
âAs the largest employer in the Danbury area, Danbury Hospital is pursuing the implementation of numerous green initiatives that range from generating its own power, lighting and water conservation, and the use of green cleaning products,â said Morris Gross, vice president of facilities management
As a part of the Green Fair there also will be a lighting booth where TechniArt, a Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund (CEEF) retail and national Energy Star partner, will sell energy-efficient lighting at below wholesale cost and provide participants with expert advice on how to more efficiently light their homes and reduce expenses.
