Alice Knowlton
Alice Knowlton, 91, of 309 Wesley Heights, Shelton, entered into rest on November 14 in Bishop Wicke Health Care Center, Shelton. She was the devoted wife of the late Edward C. Knowlton.
She was the mother of Kaye Darling of Newtown.
She was born in Manchester, N.H., on July 27, 1909, daughter of the late Willard and Alice (Johnson) Northrop and was a resident of West Haven before moving to Shelton in 1952. Mrs Knowlton was a librarian with the West Haven Library and then the head librarian at the Derby Neck Library for over 20 years before her retirement.
She was very active in the Shelton Congregational Church and the Pebbles Group in West Haven.
She was the mother of Janet Lucas of Shelton, and sister of Milton Northrop of Sebastian, Fla. She is also survived by five loving grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18, at 11 am in the Shelton Congregational Church with the Rev Greg Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call on Saturday morning from 10 am until the time of service at the church.
