A New ‘Spotlight’ At Seven Angels

WATERBURY — “Spotlight” is a new series of evening programs featuring music, poetry and ideas at the Seven Angels Theatre in Waterbury. The first in the series of gatherings will be held at the theatre on Saturday, February 19, from 7 to 10 pm. The evening will feature the music of Anne Donohue & Rich Dart, an acoustic duo. There will be a $5 cover charge at the door.

Anne Donohue, an accomplished singer and songwriter, has performed with numerous groups including The Delta Blues Band, Eight To The Bar and The Who Whos, an acoustic pop group fronted by a female vocal trio. Ms Donohue has become known as a singer with power, flexibility, range and the ability to communicate the emotional core of the music she performs.

Rich Dart, a percussionist for 20 years, has played with over 60 performing groups and ensembles. The Connecticut native has shared the stage with the Beatnik legend David Amram and jazz great Lionel Hampton. He performs regularly with several jazz groups and with rock/pop groups such as The Beach Bums and Creamed Corn, and has appeared on numerous CDs by these groups.

The evening will also include two hours of open mic time for area performers, musicians and poets to have their time in the spotlight. In keeping with the tradition of coffee houses, coffee and pastries will be available.

For more information or to reserve open mic time, contact Jessica Grover or Nicole Streck at 203/591-8223. Seven Angels Theatre is located in the historic Hamilton Park Pavilion on Plank Road, just off I-84 in Waterbury. Parking is free.
