Travel Basketball Coaches Needed

Final Breeze Tryouts

The Connecticut Breeze U18 girls’ fastpitch softball team will hold its final tryouts for the 2001 summer season on Saturday, September 23, from 10 am to 2 pm, at Brewster Field in Milford. Shoot Straight Basketball Camp

The Shoot Straight Basketball Camp will hold a two-day shooting and offensive moves camp on Saturday, September 30, and Sunday, October 1, 9:30 am to 1:30 pm both days, at the Danbury War Memorial in Danbury, for boys and girls ages 8 to 18. Apple Harvest Road Race

The Apple Harvest Festival Road Race, sponsored by the Southington Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Sunday, October 1, at 9 am. There will be $1,800 in prize money, including $1,000 for lucky random finishers. Cost is $15 if registered by September 15 and $20 on race day (a Little Fritter Race will be held, as well, with a $3 charge for young runners). Race features t-shirts to the first 125 registered. Spook Run

The 9th annual 5k Halloween Spook Run, sponsored by the Brookfield Parks and Recreation Department, will be held Sunday, October 29, at 10 am, beginning at the Brookfield Municipal Center at 100 Pocono Road in Brookfield. Race-day registration will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 am. Pre-registration is $12 while race-day registration is $15. T-shirts to first 300 registered. Sport Card Show – With YA Tittle

Football Hall of Famer Y.A. Tittle will appear Sunday, October 1, at the Stratford Baseball Card and Sport Memorabilia Show at the Stratford Ramada Inn off Exit 30 of I-95. Show hours are 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, with Mr Tittle appearing at 12 noon. Admission is $3 for adults and 99 cents for kids under 10. Dealers from five states will feature sport cards, sport memorabilia, autographs, beanie babies, Pokemon and more. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bridgeport. Orienteering Meeting

The Western Connecticut Orienteering Club will meet Saturday, September 30, at the Pond Mountain area off Fuller Mountain Road in Kent. Registrations and starts will be from 10 am to 12 noon. Redding Ramble

The Third Annual Redding Ramble road race will be held Saturday, September 23, beginning and ending at the West Redding Fire Station on 306 Umpaqaug Road. The race will begin at 9:30 am (participants should arrive at 8:30 am), with a1K Fun Rund for children 12 and under and a 5K at 10 am. The course is mostly flat and USATF certified. Trophy awards to top finishers of the 5K and medals to all participants in the fun run.
