United Way Holds Leadership Reception
DANBURY â Bernardâs Inn at Ridgefield was the setting for the United Way of Northern Fairfield Countyâs (UWNFC) recent Leadership Reception. More than 100 supporters from UWNFCâs seven-town area of Bethel, Brookfield, Newtown, New Fairfield, Ridgefield, Redding, and Danbury attended the event, which was chaired by Carl Bailey, Chair of UWNFCâs 2000 Community Campaign, and Gary and LouAnn Smith, chairs of the Leadership Giving Association.
Carl Bailey is president of Bailey Financial Services, Gary Smith is President of Ridgefield Bank, and LouAnn Smith is a senior mortgage consultant with Ladd Financial Center.
Established locally in 1988, UWNFCâs Leadership Giving Association encourages individuals to contribute at a higher level of giving. Its members are donors who support the community by giving $1,000 or more annually to the United Way. Supporters who contribute $10,000 or more annually are also members of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society. In this way, the United Way recognizes these investors as community supporters who lead by example.
UWNFCâs Leadership Giving Association has a goal of raising $1 million for the 2000 Community Campaign.
Gary and LouAnn Smith extended their thanks to Bailey Financial Services, Bernardâs Inn at Ridgefield, Newtown Savings Bank, Praxair, Inc., Ridgefield Savings Bank, Savings Bank of Danbury, Summit Bank, Union Savings Bank, and Webster Bank for generously sponsoring the event.
The United Way of Northern Fairfield County is a local, nonprofit community-based organization that covers the seven-town area. Through its Community Fund, it helps support 66 programs, run by 31 nonprofit agencies, that address health and human services needs. Last year, UWNFC served more than 75,000 residents. For its current campaign, United Way of Northern Fairfield County set a fundraising goal of $3,300,100.
