Turkey Trot Road Race Registration Open
The C. H. Booth Library’s 10th Anniversary Turkey Trot Celebration Committee announces the opening of race registration for runners and walkers. The milestone event will take place on Thanksgiving morning, November 28. The Newtown 5K Turkey Trot Road Race and Fun Walk is an annual benefit for the C.H. Booth Library. Runners and walkers interested in signing up for the race can now register at www.newtownturkeytrot.com.
Held in the scenic and historic center of Newtown, the Turkey Trot has become a community tradition and highlight for many families over the Thanksgiving weekend. This year’s race is expected to attract nearly 1,000 people who will experience a new layout for the racecourse through the Borough of Newtown.
The new course will eliminate the climb up Schoolhouse Hill Road and bring runners back toward Queen Street on Wendover Road. A map of the course is available when registering at www.newtownturkeytrot.com. The result will be a course that is mostly flat with a few gentle hills while it loops through local neighborhoods in the center of town. Additionally, the course will now start and end at Newtown Middle School, providing a single point for runners and spectators to gather.
“The Turkey Trot is an occasion for family and neighbors to come together and experience a fun, competitive event for runners of all ages,” said Tom Long, race director, Newtown Turkey Trot. “It’s also an opportunity for participants to support the library, which is a focal point for the community, delivering valuable programs and services.”
