Mrs Wasserman Says ‘Thank You’

To the Editor:

I have lived on my farm in Sandy Hook for 45 years, all but five of these with my late husband, Louis. When my home was destroyed by fire on May 11, nothing survived but the memories of a life shared, in a town that has given us joy and tranquility.

Also, my years in public service never fail to give me a good feeling about our town. The tragic fire has underscored these feelings.

It is impossible to fathom the wave of support and caring, the prayers, and the love that our town has for one of its own. Inadequate as this is, I wish to say thanks to all.

My special gratitude goes to the many brave volunteers who spent hours battling the blaze and attempting to same my home. These are the volunteers of Sandy Hook Fire and Rescue, Newtown Hook and Ladder, the Dodgingtown Fire Company, the Hawleyville Fire Company, the United Fire Company of Botsford, the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Sandy Hook Ladies Auxiliary, Southbury Volunteer Fire Department, Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department, Roxbury Volunteer Fire Department, Stepney Volunteer Fire Company, Stevenson Volunteer Fire Company, and the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department.

God bless!

Julia Wasserman
