Oil Painting Demo At Next SCAN Meeting

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have an oil painting demonstration by Carol Reeves on Wednesday, April 13, at 7:30 pm. Ms Reeves’ subject will be flowers.

The meeting is open to the public and will be held at Newtown Meeting House, at 31 Main Street (at the flagpole) in Newtown.

Carol Reeves divides her time between Maine and Connecticut, which provides her with plenty of plein air painting opportunities. Her travels also allow her to paint on location throughout the United States and Europe.

Working in both oils and pastels her painterly approach using lively brush strokes and bold color have earned her the title of “colorist.”

Ms Reeves received her formal education from Lyme Academy of Fine Arts. She has additionally studied with many master painters across the United States.

Her work has been exhibited nationally and earned her many prestigious awards, and, her work is included in many private and corporate collections.

She serves on the executive board of the CT Pastel Society and is a CPS signature member. She is also a member of the American Society of Portrait Painters, American Academy of Women Artists, and International Society of Pastel Painters. Ms Reeves was recently juried into the Biennale Internazionale Dell’Arte Contemporanea in France, Italy.
