Responding To A Family Crisis

To the Editor:

A week ago my husband and I received a call from our daughter and son concerning their brother Tom. At the time we were 1,500 miles away in Arkansas, the call immediately set us in motion for a 28-hour drive home.

They had called to tell us Tom was missing and they were going to call the police. They handled, not only us, but this nightmare in the most professional way.

In order to reach everyone who helped us at a very frightening time in our lines I am writing this letter of thank you.

Thank you to the Newtown Police; Katie and Tim told us you were not only immensely helpful but also kind and considerate. Thank you to our friends and neighbors who rallied with Tim and Katie to help locate Tom. Our thanks and gratitude are beyond any words that we could ever express.

To our daughter Katie who helped to keep us calm and grounded, thank you.

For our son Tim whose leadership ability was never stronger, thank you.

Last but not least for Don Studley who found Tom, thanks you.

My dad always told me “there are far more good people than bad”; how true his words were spoken.

We thank everyone who helped us and to our children, we are now, always have been, and always will be so proud of all of you. You are a fine example of all that is good and honest in our society today.

Sincerely

Chris and Peggy Spiro
