Danbury Hospital Offers Breast Cancer Education Class
DANBURY â A Breast Cancer Education Class will be conducted at The Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital on Wednesday, November 9, from 4 to 5:30 pm.
Biweekly classes resume in January and take place on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. Breast Cancer Education Classes are open to any newly diagnosed woman with breast cancer who plans to undergo or who has recently received breast cancer surgery. Classes are held in the Ruth C. Donovan Resource Room Library, located on the first floor, Stroock Building (Locust Avenue entrance). Family members and friends are also invited to attend.
The purpose of the classes is to provide information about what to expect before and after breast cancer surgery, including pre- and post-operative care, lymphedema precautions and exercise, relaxation techniques, as well as information regarding local support services.
Instructors include oncology health care professionals, a complementary medicine coordinator, a surgical staff nurse, an occupational therapist and volunteers from Bridges (a newly established program by the Community Cancer Collaborative that connects newly diagnosed breast cancer patients to breast cancer survivors).
