Summer Festival Chorus To Perform Mozart And More

FAIRFIELD — The Summer Festival Chorus (SFC) of Fairfield University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts will perform its 13th annual concert, “Mozart Mania... and Much More!”, on Saturday, July 29, at 7:30 pm, at the Quick Center.

The program will include the works of Mozart, Joseph M. Martin, John Rutter and Larry Farrow, as well as pieces from Les Miserables. Instrumentalists from The Live Music Project, the Quick Center’s resident conductor-less orchestra, will accompany the chorus.

Auditions were held in June for the chorus, which often plays to standing-room-only audiences. SFC is popular because it offers a singing opportunity when many other choruses and church choirs take a summer break.

Dr Carole Ann Maxwell, director of choral and liturgical music at Fairfield University, will conduct. Dr Maxwell is also the artistic director and conductor of The Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut and a chorus master of Greater Bridgeport Symphony. She has conducted choruses for Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and others.

Dr Maxwell has also shared the stage with Dave Brubeck, Marilyn Horne, Stephen Sondheim and many other musical legends.

Tickets are $15; $12 for senior citizens and children. For tickets, call the Quick Center box office at 203-254-4019 or 877-278-7396.
