Local Involvement In The Revolutionary War

BROOKFIELD — The Brookfield Museum and Historical Society will sponsor a lecture by Revolutionary War re-enactor and Danbury resident Silvin Gleissner on Wednesday, April 18. The program will begin at 7:30 pm and will be at the society’s headquarters/museum, at the intersection of Route 133 and Route 25 in Brookfield Center.

Admission is free and light refreshments will be served after the presentation.

Mr Gleissner will be in period military costume and will focus his discussion on the 2nd Continental Light Dragoons, their winter encampment at the area today known as Putnam Memorial Park, and some of the missions, battles and skirmishes they were involved in. He has been a trooper with the Second Continental Light Dragoons, Sheldon Horses, for the past three years and lectured at various organizations and historical societies throughout Connecticut and New York.

Following the presentation he will field questions from the audience.
