Spring Vacation Programs At Flanders

WOODBURY — Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust is offering an entire week of spring vacation adventure from Monday, April 16, through Friday, April 20. Children can be registered for one day’s class, or for all five sessions.

Morning classes will meet from 9:30 am to noon for preschool youngsters, and afternoon classes for children attending grades K-5 will be from 1 to 4 pm.

Each day will offer a different topic. On Monday, “From Eggs to Legs” will be the subject, where children will discover what’s hatching at Flanders. On Tuesday, it’s “Rabbits and their habits,” with live rabbits; Wednesday will be “Snakes Alive,” where children will see which snakes and lizards are visiting the nature center and learn some cool reptile facts.

On Thursday, the topic will be “Farming Fun,” which will include a hike to the North Barn to visit with all the new farm animals. If it’s not to muddy there will be a hayride.

Finally on Friday, there will be “Wild and Wonderful,” where children will learn about mammals by looking at their tracks, bones, skulls and much more.

Meant to be a complement to a child’s learning, these classes will be an exciting outdoor adventure which will allow young people the opportunity to explore the natural world and help foster an understanding and connection with the environment.

Program fee for each class is $15 for member and $20 for nonmembers. Children should be dressed for the out-of-doors and bring along a snack for the hikes. Registration and pre-payment are required.

For additional information and registration, call 203-263-3711 extension 10.
