Senior services for Newtown seniors are available at the Multi-Purpose Building on Riverside Road in Sandy Hook. The Senior Center is under the auspices of The Commission on Aging. You may drop in at the Senior Center on Riverside Road in Sandy Hook weekdays between 9 am and 4 pm. A hot meal is served at noon for which you must reserve three days in advance.
Newtown has daily door-to-door minibus service Monday through Friday. Buses also run all day from the Senior Center to Sand Hill Plaza. On Fridays, the bus alternates between rides to Danbury Fair Mall and Berkshire Plaza in Danbury (to Wal-Mart Route 6). Cost is 65¢ each way for the Sand Hill Plaza trip, 75¢ each way for out of town. Call 748-2511 TWO DAYS IN ADVANCE to book a ride and get the out-of-town Friday schedule.

*CRAFT CLASS on Tuesday, August 14, at 1 pm will be to make Sumi-e, a Chinese brush painting.
*POT LUCK DINNER will be Tuesday, August 14, at 5 pm. This monthâs dinner will be chicken salads, veggies, and fruit, along with coffee, tea or lemonade. The cost is $5.
*Join BILL MICHAELS for music, song, and dance on Wednesday, August 15, at 1 pm.

*Head for YANKEE CANDLE in Massachusetts on Tuesday, August 28. Lunch at Delaney House and then enjoy a river cruise on the Lady Bea along the Connecticut River. Depart at 8 am; cost is $75.
*A DAY AT THE RACES at Monticello, N.Y., with live harness racing on Tuesday, September 11. Depart at 9 am; cost is $38.
*Enjoy lunch buffet at the Newport Playhouse and Cabaret Restaurant and see the comedic show The Miss Firecracker Contest on Thursday, September 27. After the show, enjoy some free time in Newport. Depart at 7:30 am; cost is $90.
*On Thursday, October 4, have lunch and see PHANTOM at Westchester Broadway Theatre. Depart at 9:30 am; tickets are $71.
*THE ROCKETTES at Radio City Music Hall on Friday, November 9, with lunch at Rudyâs. Early booking special, $105 per person.
