Newtown Exxon

Is Now Sunoco

By John Voket

Passersby on South Main Street may notice an obvious change, but regular customers to Nick Kopcik’s Newtown Exxon will still find the same services and expert car care even though its signs have changed to Sunoco.

Mr Kopcik said the change is just a sign of the times.

“This has been in the works since May, when Exxon told us they were selling off their properties and changing some to Mobil as part of the agreement when the two companies (ExxonMobil) merged,” Mr Kopcik told The Bee Wednesday. .

He said subsequently the company that owns the property, Alliance Energy, decided to convert some of its former Exxon properties that had convenience store operations to Mobil, but decided to convert his service center facility to Sunoco.

“We’ve got a decent product and service to offer at a decent price,” Mr Kopcik said. “Service and gas works for me.”

The station was closed Wednesday as several different contractor crews busily worked installing new pump technology, tying in computer systems, applying new Sunoco brand colors and logos to equipment and the most obvious signal of a change, raising a brand new backlit Sunoco sign a few feet from passing traffic on Route 25.
