Carolee Mason's Special Calling
Carolee Masonâs Special Calling
To the Editor:
I was shocked to read in last weekâs Bee that our animal control officer, Carolee Mason, had been fired by our first selectman, Joe Borst. I have visited our dog pound on numerous occasions and have always walked away knowing that our stray animals (many abused and neglected) were being treated with loving care.
Some of us think that nurses, doctors, spiritual leaders, etc, have a special calling for their jobs. I think this also applies to Carolee. The cats sometimes mingle with each other, the dogs are walked by volunteers, some go home with Carolee for extra special treatment. We all know this does not happen in all dog pounds.
I do not know the reason for her dismissal, but I think most of us would agree that her loving commitment to her animals should override all other problems.
