Hoover In A Skirt?

To the Editor:

Is Jodi Rell Herbert Hoover in a skirt? It is looking more and more like her policies are following his failed lead. Her revised budget of May 18 is a crash course in Hoovernomics. Gov Rell slashes public spending on the state level while the Obama Administration works to stimulate the economy.

The little reported cuts hit popular programs and people who are struggling at a time when these services are most in need. Draconian cuts to libraries, public health centers, and schools are just a few examples. All without asking those that can most afford it to help out with a modest increase in income taxes for those making over $250,000.

Gov Rell says no new taxes but increases fees on working people. It is time those that can most afford it paid their fair share. There are better choices and the governor must stop protecting the wealthy and lead.
