DANBURY — In alliance with the American Cancer Society’s nationwide “Great American Smokeout”, Danbury-based health and wellness specialist Stephanie Dalfonzo will conduct a free workshop, “Kick The Habit — For Good!” on Thursday, November 18, at noon, at the offices of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce, 39 West Street.

A certified hypnotist through the National Guild of Hypnotists, Ms Dalfonzo of Danbury Hypnosis will help all November 18 workshop participants change the thoughts and behaviors necessary to quit their smoking habit.

“Hypnosis is a very popular intervention for people who are trying to quit smoking,” reported San Francisco VA Medical Center Senior Researcher in Mental Health, Timothy P. Carmody, PhD, who is also a clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco. “Until now, there has not been enough scientific evidence to validate hypnosis as an approach. This study was designed to provide such evidence.”

Dr Carmody’s study appeared in the May 2008 issue of Nicotine & Tobacco Research.

“As a former smoker and a certified hypnotist, I personally, and clinically, understand what is needed to successfully quit smoking,” stated Ms Dalfonzo. “During the workshop, I will combine hypnosis with an energy technique called EFT — emotional freedom Technique — and techniques from NLP — neuro-linguistic programming. By combining these three powerful techniques, I am able to help people successfully kick the habit.”

Ms Dalfonzo stated that it will be important that participants not smoke for a minimum of four hours before the noon workshop to increase their personal success rate.

“My six years of working with smokers have taught me that this step is essential for success,” she said. “By not smoking prior to the workshop session, participants will be able to learn the methods I teach to knock their cravings down in less than one minute.”

Space is limited and reservations are required. To secure a seat, call Ms Dalfonzo at 203-797-9288 or email her at SD@StephanieDalfonzo.com.
