Upcoming Courses Still Open

Newtown Continuing Education announced this week that openings remain for three upcoming courses.

“What’s The Big Deal About Couponing?” is scheduled for October 18 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm for $34 and will teach participants how to save 50 percent on groceries, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items, and more, according to the course description.

“This introductory class will cover acquiring, organizing, and utilizing coupons at local grocery, drug, and other stores,” the course description reads.

“Ultimate Couponing” will teach participants how to save even more. The class provides information on meal planning, store loyalty programs, rebates, online incentive programs, and savings on gifts and more. The class is scheduled for November 1 from 6:30 to 8 pm for $34.

“The Basics of Cooking For First-Time Chefs” is being offered in two classes from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hurley Kitchen for $59. Participants will learn meal planning, hands-on preparation techniques for seasonal food, and each participant will be guided through the custom-designed sessions and themed lessons. Interested participants have the option of choosing from multiple course choices scheduled for different days. The themed lessons are scheduled to be “Fruits & More Fruits” on October 19 and 26, “Harvest Bounty (Thanksgiving themed)” on November 9 and 16, and “Holidays (celebratory menus)” on December 7 and 14.
