A Friend To All
Louise Jane Gerry, 79, of Newtown, wife of Glenn Gerry, died October 29, at her home. She was born November 11, 1931, in Westport, the daughter of Emma (Wohlforth) and Michael James.
Prior to moving to Newtown 11 years ago, Mrs Gerry continued as a resident of Westport. A 1949 graduate of Staples High School, she worked as a teachers aide in Greens Farms Elementary School in Westport, was a longtime waitress at Tonyâs Luncheonette during the 1970s in Norwalk, and a cashier at Calises Deli during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
She was affectionately known as âGramâ to her family and all their friends, and always opened up her house to a friend in need, for as long as needed.
In addition to her husband of 62 years, two sons, Stephen W. Gerry of Newtown and Michael W. Gerry, and his wife Debbie, of Riverside, Calif.; two daughters, Judith Platt, and her husband George, of Randleman, N.C., and Evelyn Eastman, and her husband, Bryan of Norway, Maine; a brother, Richard âBuzzâ James of Ocala, Fla.; a sister, Barbara Yamnicky of Bradenton, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren survive Mrs Gerry.
Services for Mrs Gerry are pending and will be announced at a later date.
The Harding Funeral Home in Westport is assisting the family with the arrangements.
