Porcoâs Karate Participants Compete In Tourney
Porcoâs Karate Academy members participated in the Academy Invitational Tournament on November 19. The tournament was co-hosted by Post University and Grandmaster Beaudoinâs Academy of Karate and held in the gym at Post University in Waterbury.
This year marks the 45th anniversary of this tournament and featured more than 150 participants from all over New England. Welcoming different versions of Tang Soo Do, an ancient Korean martial art, the competition included breaking, open-hand forms, and sparring.
Participants from Porcoâs were: Christopher Perry (first in sparring, first forms, second breaking), Amelia Shwartz (first breaking), Lauren DâAmico (first sparring, third forms), Emily Albrecht (first sparring, first forms, second breaking), Michael Reyen (first forms, second breaking, second sparring), Darren Kirby (first forms, first sparring), Jake Terifay (first sparring, second forms, third breaking), Amelia Schill (second sparring), Mystic Higginson (second breaking, third forms), Cameron Powers (participation medal), Sean DeMott (participation medal), Lauren Menousek (participation medal), Kelly Terifay (participation medal), Kim Cappiazello (first breaking, second sparring), and Henry Terifay (participation medal).
