Police Plan Sobriety Checkpoint
This Weekend
During the evening of Friday, June 15, and early morning hours of Saturday, June 16, police plan to conduct a sobriety checkpoint on a local road to check on whether motorists are driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Police did not disclose the location of the checkpoint.
One supervisor and eight police officers will conduct the special enforcement event.
Motorists driving in both directions on the road will be stopped and will be briefly interviewed to determine whether they are driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, police said.
Police also will seek out other vehicular violations, such as driving without wearing a seatbelt and driving with a suspended license.
Three-quarters of the police overtime costs stemming from the sobriety checkpoint will be covered with grant funding.Â
