Llodra Appointed
To COSTâs Board Of Directors
The Connecticut Council of Small Towns (COST) has announced that Newtown First Selectman Pat Llodra has been appointed to COSTâs Board of Directors effective November 8.
Mrs Llodra was elected first selectman 2009. She served on the Newtown Board of Education from 1976 to 1982 and has served the town in several other community service arenas, including as a member of the Newtown Legislative Council and chairman of the Legislative Councilâs Education Subcommittee. Mrs Llodra has been a teacher and school principal and served as the assistant executive director of the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS), as well as a director of leadership development and executive coaching at CAS and CSDE.
âPatâs knowledge and experience with education issues will be a tremendous benefit to COSTâs advocacy efforts. She has already stepped in to serve on an education reform work group charged with creating a uniform system of accounts to provide more transparency in education budgeting. We are honored that Pat has agreed to serve on COSTâs Board of Directors,â said Betsy Gara, COSTâs executive director.
âEducation funding is expected to be a big issue at the state Capitol this year. Patâs expertise on these issues will position COST to play a major role in shaping legislation affecting education in Connecticutâs small towns,â Ms Gara added.
COST is an advocacy organization committed to giving small towns a strong voice in the legislative process. Its members are Connecticut towns with populations of less than 30,000. COST champions the major policy needs and concerns of Connecticutâs suburban and rural towns. More information is available at www.ctcost.org
