Girlsâ Soccer Team Remains Unbeaten
Newtown High Schoolâs girlsâ soccer team improved to 12-0-2 with wins over Brookfield and Oxford and a tie with Lauralton Hall of Milford this past week, heading into Wednesdayâs scheduled visit to Immaculate of Danbury (after The Bee sports section went to press).
The Nighthawks blanked Brookfield 2-0 at home on October 11 behind goals by Bridget Power and Sarah Lynch. They played host Lauralton to a scoreless deadlock on October 13, then toppled Oxford 6-1 at Treadwell Park on Monday.
In the win over Oxford, Lynch and Jess Keller both scored twice, and Brenna Kelly and Amy Martin added goals.
The Nighthawks will close out the regular season with a Tuesday, October 23 home game with Pomperaug of Southbury at 7 pm at Blue & Gold Stadium. The South-West Conference Tournament will get underway October 26 or 27.
