A Musical Millennium Celebration, Saturday

DANBURY —Danbury Music Centre invites the public to its official concert in celebration of the new millennium. On Saturday, May 12, the Danbury Concert Chorus and the Danbury Symphony Orchestra will perform the timeless oratorio The Creation by Franz Josef Haydn.

The oratorio is based upon Genesis, the first book of the Old Testament. It is a musical depiction of the stories from that book.

Leslie Eckstein, the music director and conductor of Danbury Concert Chorus, will direct the combined forces of chorus, orchestra and soloists.

The concert chorus and orchestra are both made up of musicians from around the area. Among the current membership is L.J. Bridwell, Debora Fitzsimmons, Leslie Huston, Harlan Jessup, Charlotte Kalley, Patricia Lund, Betsy Stein Medinger, and Renate Oebel, all of Newtown, and Elizabeth Condit and Jonathan Gibney, both of Sandy Hook.

The performance will take place at Ives Concert Hall, 181 White Street, on the midtown campus of Western Connecticut State University. It will begin at 7:30 pm and admission is free.

For additional information call the Danbury Music Centre at 748-1716.
