Edgar L. Hawley

Edgar L. Hawley, 70, husband of the late Ethel (Raymond) Hawley of 2 Towns End Road, Newtown, died July 11 in Danbury Hospital.

Mr Hawley was born in Norwalk, February 28, 1930, a son of the late Edgar V. and Eva (Mead) Hawley. He was a resident of Newtown the past 45 years.

Mr Hawley was employed for 25 years as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Newtown Highway Department until his retirement in 1998.

He is survived by a son, Christopher Raymond of Pittsfield, Mass.; four daughters, Barbara Bradley of Newtown, Susan Spiller of Moore, Okla., Jane Eckert of Newtown and Carol Mitchell of Newtown; three brothers, Charles Hawley of North Carolina, John Hawley of Danbury, and William Hawley of Iowa; one sister, Emma Stancek of Danbury; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 13 in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

Interment was in Newtown Village Cemetery.
