Holocaust Group To Meet
Holocaust Group To Meet
WOODBURY â Holocaust survivors and children of survivors are invited to a breakfast meeting on Sunday, December 17, at 10 am at the office of the Federation: Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut, 73 Main Street South in Woodbury.
This will be a social gathering, a time to visit with each other and talk informally. Bring photos, writing, newspaper articles, or anything else to share.
The Second Generation and Holocaust Survivors Group was formed two and a half years ago for people who want to get together to discuss issues connected with being Holocaust survivors or the children of survivors. Guest speakers and members of the group talk about many topics, including their stories and experiences during the war and how to educate future generations about the Holocaust.
The group has been growing and evolving, and over 50 different people from all over the state have attended the meetings. There are usually a dozen people at each meeting. The Sunday morning talks are friendly, informal, and very much appreciated by those who attend.
New people are always welcome to attend these meetings, which are free of charge and sponsored by the Brownstein Jewish Family Service of the Jewish Federation. Future meetings of the group after that are tentatively scheduled for Sunday, January 21, and Sunday, February 25. RSVP for the December 17 meeting, as a light breakfast will be served. For more information, contact Debby Horowitz, Program Director of Brownstein Jewish Family Service at 203/263-5121, extension 304.
