Associated Bridle Trails

 

At all paces, protective headgear (safety helmets) and suitable riding footwear (boot with heal) is required. While there will be divisions for hunt, pleasure or hacking, junior and western (all fences will have go-arounds), all western teams must have at least one western rider and junior teams must have at least one junior rider. Paces will be held rain or shine. Ribbons will be awarded from first to 10th place in each division. Riders will be able to accumulate points towards series awards. All of the following paces are fundraising events for non-profit organizations that maintain equestrian trails and support the preservation of open space.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16: The Putnam Horse Council will hold its pace on Sunday, September 16, from 9 am to noon, at Putnam County Park on Gypsy Trail Road in Carmel, N.Y. Bring a picnic lunch. The course is six to seven miles long and most jumps are 24 to 30 inches high. Fee is $30 for adult members ($35 for non-members) and $25 for junior members ($30 for non-members). Registrations will be accepted on race day, but for an extra $5. Call Jean Arledge at 845-628-3853 for further information.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 23: The Middlebury Bridle Land Association fall hunter pace will be held on Sunday, September 23, at Larkin’s Farm, on South Street in Middlebury. Fee is $40 for adult members ($50 for non-members) and $30 for junior members ($40 for non-members). Pre-registration and pre-payment is required. SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30: The Lewisboro Horseman’s Association will hold its Fall Country Pace on Sunday, September 30, from 8 am to noon, with a luncheon from 11 am to 2 pm. Fee is $45 for adult members ($55 for non-members) and $25 for junior members ($30 for non-members). Fee includes entry to Ward Pound Ridge Reservation for towing vehicles, trailers and horses. Entries will be accepted on the day of the pace, but for an extra $5. Pre-registrations are requested by September 26. Call Virginia Clark at 914-763-9193 for starting times (evenings only).

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14: The Greenwich Riding & Trails Association will hold its hunter pace on Sunday, October 14, from 8 am to noon, at Hughes/Wonham Field in Greenwich. Fee is $65 for adult riders and $40 for junior riders. Ribbons will be awarded. Call Claire Reed at 203-324-0434 for starting times.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 28: The Newtown Bridle Lands Association will hold its Frost on the Pumpkin Pace on Sunday, October 28, 8 am to noon, at the farm on Mount Nebo Road in Newtown. Lunch will be served from 11 am to 2 pm. For further information, call 270-0830.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 – The Old Chatham Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, September 23, at Highland Farm on Highland Road in Old Chatham, New York. Trophy points earned. Coolers and ribbons awarded. Adult and junior divisions. Cost is $35 for members, $70 for non-members $25 for junior members and $35 for non-members). SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 – The Smithtown Hunter Pace will be held on Sunday, September 30, on the grounds of SUNY at Old Westbury, New York. All jumps have go-arounds. Ribbons to top 10 teams. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14 – The Fairfield Country Hounds Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, October 14, on Curtis Road in Bridgewater. Newly-designed course, with go-arounds at all fences. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21 – The Rombout Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, October 21, at Gone Away Farm on Browning Road in Hyde Park, New York. All fences will have go-arounds. Separate divisions for juniors. Hunting attire required. Cost is $35 for members, $70 for non-members ($20 for juniors). SUNDAY, OCTOBER 28 – The Windy Hollow Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, October 28, at Hunts End Farm on Wolfpit Road in Sussex, New Jersey. Coolers to winners, ribbons award to top 10 places. Points can be earned. Formal attire required. Cost is $35 for members, $45 for non-members ($25 for juniors). SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 11 – Stone Valley Hounds Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, November 11, at Netherwood Acres Farm on Netherwood Road in Hyde Park, New York. Teams of two or three riders will begin at 10 am. All fences have go-arounds. Cost is $35 for members, $70 for non-members ($20 for juniors). Horse Shows

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 – Equine World Day will be held Saturday, September 15, at Agriventures Agway on 80 Mill Plain Road in Danbury. There will be a tack swap sale, a book signing by holistic veterinarian Dr Allen Schoen DVM, a free hay analysis by Nutrena Feeds, a demonstration of trigger point myotherapy, pony rides, and much more. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21 -  An Old Time Draft Horse working demonstration will be held Sunday, October 21, from 10 am to 3 pm, at White Hollow Farm at the junction of Route 7 and Route 112 in Salisbury. The demonstration will include plowing, harrowing, log skidding, and corn binding. A horseshoeing demonstration will be held at 12 noon and a harnessing demonstration will be held at 1 pm.
