Evelyne Thomas On ‘Center Stage’

Local public access producer Gene Rosen has created a new program that will offer highlights about the wealth of live theater in the area. Mr Rosen’s new show, “Center Stage,” will debut on Monday, April 14, at 8 pm, on Charter Communications Channel 21. His first guest is Evelyne Thomas, a director and producer for The Town Players of Newtown.

“Center Stage” is a bi-weekly show designed to highlight “the unique and fascinating history as well as current productions of local theater in Charter’s viewing domain,” Mr Rosen said this week. The show is meant to be, he continued, “a unique viewing opportunity for Charter subscribers to be informed and entertained about the wealth of live theater in our area.”

“Center Stage” is the latest project for Mr Rosen, who lives in Sandy Hook. In addition to hosting previous local access productions, he is the anchor of “Front Pages” on CRIS Radio.

Evelyne Thomas has directed the opening production for The Town Players season for a number of years. The Players are currently in rehearsal for Barefoot in The Park, which opens May 2. Their productions are presented at The Little Theater, which is on Orchard Hill Road in Newtown.

The program with Evelyne Thomas is scheduled to repeat on Wednesday, April 16, at 1:30 pm. “Center Stage” programs are 30 minutes long.
