Paul B.             Dohrenwend

Paul B. Dohrenwend, 60, husband of Robyn (Beechey) Dohrenwend of Orchard Hill Road, Newtown, died April 3 in St Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Bronxville, N.Y., December 11, 1942, a son of the late Otto and Constance (Wilckes) Dohrenwend. Paul grew up in Scarsdale, N.Y., and was a graduate of Stepinac High School. He then attended Georgetown University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics in 1965.

From 1965 to 1967, Paul served in the US Army with the 19th Aviation Company, stationed in Korea.

Paul was a certified financial planner and was employed by Gateway Financial Group.

A resident of Newtown since 1977, he was a communicant at St Rose of Lima Church. Paul was a member and past president of the Newtown Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. He was a member and past president of the Winterset Ski Club.

A licensed private pilot, Paul had a passion for aviation and loved to refurbish classic automobiles. He was a dedicated Republican.

In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his three children, Paul Dohrenwend, Jr, and his wife, Donica, of  Washington D.C., Peter Dohrenwend of Cairo, Egypt, and Michelle Dohrenwend of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, James Dohrenwend of Denville, N.J., and Robert Dohrenwend of Bronxville, N.Y.; a sister, Renata Gallagher of New York, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Claire Dohrenwend.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church on April 8. Interment was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y.

Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, was in charge of arrangements.
