Plein-Aire Exhibit And Reception

WOODBURY — Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust will host an opening reception on Sunday, September 14, from 3 to 5 pm, of plein-aire paintings that were produced in the inspiring surroundings of the nature center.

The two-week exhibit is the result of an en plein-aire class taught by the well-known artist and educator Marija McCarthy over the summer at Flanders. This was the fifth summer the class was offered, and it has attracted painters who love nature and the environs of Flanders.

The nature center on Flanders Road includes over 1,600 acres of woodland, meadows, ponds, vegetable gardens, barns, a barnyard of animals, and the main house where center founder Natalie Van Vleck lived in.

Flanders Nature Center is on Flanders Road, at the intersection with Church Hill Road,  three miles north of Route 6.

For additional information, call the nature center at 263-3711.
