Cannon Grange Plans 70th Agricultural Fair

WILTON — Cannon Grange 152 will hold its 70th Annual Agricultural Fair on the Grange Hall grounds on Sunday, August 25, from 10 am to 4 pm, rain or shine. Cannon Grange is at 25 Cannon Road, just off Route 7.

Admission to the fair is $2, and free for children 12 year and under. Free parking is available at nearby Allen’s Meadows and the Cannondale Railroad Station.

Highlights of the fair will include judged exhibits and competitions in baked goods, homegrown fruits and vegetables, flowers, crafts and collections, photography, sewing and needlework, poultry, fowl, eggs, and rabbits. Most departments offer categories for children to enter and win ribbons. There will also be a baked goods sale, Cannon Grange souvenirs, and a grocery basket raffle.

Civic and educational exhibits will be displayed on the grounds, including several models from a local antique tractor club. There will be adult and junior baking contests, a quilt contest and a two crust apple pie contests, all co-sponsored by the Connecticut Association of Fairs.

The Cannon Grange Fair will include concessionaires, snack tent, and children’s games. Several fun contests, including watermelon eating, for adults and children to enter and play will take place during the afternoon. A working oxen show will be presented in the early afternoon and local talent will provide music and entertainment throughout the day.
