The show is a fund raising event for the Troop. The 2nd Company Governorâs Horse Guard is an all-volunteer state militia unit originally chartered in 1808. A non-profit organization, the Horse Guard relies on itâs own fund raising efforts.
In addition to itâs efforts, the Horse Guard supports the community by hosting fund raising for St. Judeâs Childrenâs Cancer Research Hospital, local Food Banks, The United Pegasus Foundation for Premarin Foal Rescue as well as itâs own Special Needs riding program called âSaddle up for Lifeâ which serves the special needs adults of Southbury Training School. A new therapeutic riding program for disabled veterans has also begun.
Also, the Troop participates in mounted patrols of state forests and parks. The Horse Guard needs your support in order to continue to exist.
