*If you are a fan of any members of the BRUBECK family, then you’re in for a treat. THE DAVE BRUBECK QUARTET, featuring patriarch Dave on the piano along with Bobby Melitello on sax and flute, Michel Moore on bass and Randy Jones on drums, will be playing at WCSU’s Ives Concert Hall in Danbury in two weeks. The quartet is being brought into the area by Command Performance, a non-profit organization founded just a few years ago that is dedicated to bringing high-level performing artists into the greater Danbury area.

Tickets are $30 and $35 for adults, or $25 for students and those ages 18 and under. Contact Command Performance at 825-3131 or visit www.CPerformance.com for additional information. Showtime is 8 pm.

Then in September, Weir Farm National Historic Site will host its 9th Annual Jazz in the Garden concert… featuring THE BRUBECK BROTHERS QUARTET. The acclaimed brothers Chris (bass, trombone and piano) and Dan Brubeck (drums and percussion) regularly perform with their longtime friend and jazz guitarist Mike DeMicco. The quartet is, according to Chris’ website, rounded out with various musician friends.

The concert at Weir Farm in Wilton is scheduled for Sunday, September 12, at 4 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, payable at the gate. There is no charge for ages 12 and under. This will be an outdoor show, so bring blankets or chairs for seating. Picnics are welcome. For tickets and additional info on this one contact Weir Farm Trust at 203-761-9945.

*A reminder about the FAMILY  PICNIC TOUR – a spin-off of the Family Values Tour – which will be in Hartford next weekend. Tickets are still available for $10 (although some ads are saying all females will get in free on the day of the show). The lineup features SOIL, STATIC-X, TRUST COMPANT, LO-PRO and ARITHMETIC OF WAR. Area bands selected by WCCC-FM (the local sponsor of the festival) will round out the bill.

*FISHBONE will return to Toad’s Place in New Haven next weekend, playing an all-ages show on Saturday, August 21. Tickets are $13.50 in advance or $15 at the door; call 203-562-5589.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you… on the road.
