Samantha Ciaccia Awarded CASIA Scholarship
The Connecticut Alarm & Systems Integrators Association (CASIA) of Wilton awarded its annual fire scholarship prize to Samantha Ciaccia, daughter of Wayne Ciaccia, chief of the Newtown volunteer fire department, the United Fire Company of Botsford. Samantha was given this $500 prize at the associationâs Annual Fire & Code Officialsâ Night on May 31. The associationâs scholarship program recognizes the academic and community achievements of two children of Connecticut police officers and firefighters who will be entering college this year.
Samantha is a scholar athlete at Newtown High School. She was selected captain of the Newtown High School Varsity Softball Squad, for whom she has played four years and was this seasonâs starting infielder. She is a staff writer for the NHS Hawkeye newspaper and sports editor for the Yearbook. She is a member of the Junior Volunteer Firefighters/United Company of Botsford. Samantha will attend Roger Williams University in Rhode Island this fall.
âI am particularly excited about our scholarship program,â said Harvey Clark, president of CASIA. âAs an industry, we want to give back to the police and fire communities for their hard work and dedication. The scholarship program is a small way for us to say, âthanks and a job well done.â The true reward comes when you realize that your association and your industry are helping a deserving student pay for their education.â
