FERRIN GALLERY WILL OPEN LOCATION IN PITTSFIELD, MASS STOREFRONT SPACE
avv/gs set 6-6 #702370
PITTSFIELD, MASS. â On June 14, Ferrin Gallery officially opens in a new location in the recently renovated storefront at 433 North Street. Owners, Leslie Ferrin and Donald Clark began looking for a space in Pittsfield a year ago and after considering many options chose the 2,500-square-foot space in a building being renovated into commercial and residential condominiums by developer George Whaling. Ferrin Gallery is purchasing the retail space in the form of a condominium.
Of the decision to move to Pittsfield, Clark says, âLeslie and I were both in Northampton during its very exciting revitalization in the â80s and â90s. In Pittsfield we see the same gathering of artists combining with a dedicated major committed to the arts, working hand in hand with the city council to bring this city back to life as a major cultural center in Western Massachusetts. We want our business in a city with that energy and to be part of that excitement.â
Established 1979 in Northampton, the gallery has been located in Lenox since 2002 and will remain open there through October. The gallery currently focuses on sculpture, contemporary art and ceramics, representing artists from around the country as well as known regional artists.
The galleryâs first season in Pittsfield opens with two shows: a solo show of sculpture and works on paper by Sergei Isupov, a nationally known artists now living in Cummington, Mass.; and a group show, âWe Are Here,â featuring works by gallery and invited artists from throughout the region.
Two group shows that run for six weeks, âWe Are Here,â June 14âJuly 29 and the counterpart âWe Were There,â August 2âOctober 2, were chosen to present a range of artwork by artists who are geographically affiliated with the region.
