Rebels 8, Blancoâs Bombers 4: Stefan Hennessey crushed two triples to lead the Rebels to their eighth win in nine games Sunday at Sandy Hookâs Walnut Tree Field. Hennessey was 3-for-3. He singled, knocked in two runs and scored two runs. Teammate Ryan Pisani pitched three sharp innings to start the game, yielding just one unearned run. John Hampford, the teamâs RBI leader with 13, knocked in two runs with singles. Playing centerfield, Hampford twice flashed his powerful arm, throwing strikes from right-center field to nail runners heading for third and second bases. Brandon Marks also had two hits, ripping a double over the left fielderâs head and a single. He knocked in two runs and scored twice. Andrei Ruscoe ignited a three-run sixth-inning rally by smashing a single to right-center. He also scored a run. For the Bombers, Ryan OâKeefe hurled three shutout innings to provide his club with a 1-0 lead after three innings. OâKeefe yielded just two hits and struck out three batters.
Rebels 13, Scarangellaâs Stars 6: Tied 6-6, the Rebels exploded for seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings to boost their record to 7-1. The Rebels were led by Ben Stoller, John Hampford, Stefan Hennessey and Ryan Pisani. Stoller ripped a key double to deep left center in the sixth inning, reached base on all four at-bats, scored two runs, and knocked in a run. He also made several nifty defensive plays, including an unassisted double play at first base. Hampford knocked in two runs with singles and scored three times. Hennessey reached base three times, scored two runs and knocked in a run. He also threw two shutout innings without yielding a hit in relief. Pisani reached base three times and knocked in two runs. Brandon Marks scored two runs and pitched two shutout innings before yielding his first earned run of the season. Marksâ earned run average is 0.53 in 17 innings pitched this season. Harry Snellback reached base three times to boost his on-base percentage above .600, second on the team behind Stoller. For the Stars, Brock Chimileski ripped two singles and scored two runs. Jack Champagne also scored two runs, and Dominic Scarangella and Vikram Makayee singled.

Newtown Orange Crush 21, Redding One 13: Chris Blanco, Chad Azzarito, Adam Bergeron, Michael Schlesinger and George Pagett handled pitching duties for Newtown. Jack Moulder, Michael Schlesinger, Parker Johnson, Chris Blanco, Adam Bergeron and Sean Wallace all contributed in Newtownâs effort.

Newtown Red Dawgs 17 Ridgefield 14: A two-out double to left field by Tim Wilder, who had two hits in three at-bats, was the key hit in a nine-run third-inning rally. The Dawgsâ 12-hit attack featured extra-base knocks by Brian Reed (double, triple), Alex Nordstrom (double), and Richie Sandler (double). Reed also tossed a pair of shutout innings on the mound. Hurler Anthony Maki allowed only one hit in two innings of work. Defensive stalwart Jon Hull turned in the play of the game for Newtown with a tumbling shortstop-to-first putout on a ball up the middle in the first inning.
