Hawley Breakfast Thanks Parent Volunteers

Breakfast was served Friday, May 28, in Hawley Elementary School’s multipurpose room to show thanks to parent volunteers for their support during the 2009-2010 school year.

The breakfast was both prepared and financed by school staff and faculty, according to Hawley lead teacher Chris Breyan.

Only mothers attended the event, but Principal Jo-Anne Peters said school fathers also helped at the school throughout the current school year. The breakfast options were served buffet style and volunteers sat around the multipurpose room at different tables, which were decorated for the event.

The school’s volunteers, as Ms Peters said during a brief thank you speech, make Hawley the special place it is.

“And I truly have to say the support we receive here in Newtown is unmatchable,” she said, after saying she has worked in other districts.

Fourth grade students provided music for the event, under the guidance of music teacher Cynthia Holberg.
