State Lawmakers Expand Role Of Aging Panel
HARTFORD (AP) â Connecticut lawmakers have decided to expand the role of a legislative committee that oversees issues affecting the elderly.
Senate President Donald Williams, Jr, and Senator Edith Prague announced Tuesday that the General Assemblyâs Select Committee on Aging will now become a full legislative committee, allowing it to send bills directly to the floor of the House or Senate.
As a select committee, the panel had to refer legislation to other committees for action.
Prague, a Democrat from Columbia, said the new full committee will now be able to move forward policies, programs, and services to help senior citizens more quickly.
