Peter Gallotello
A Warm And
Gentle Soul
Peter Gallotello, 85, of Danbury, died peacefully, November 1, following a long illness. His loving wife of 61 years, Gertrude (Cuomo) was at his side. Born in Manhattan in 1925, Mr Gallotello was the beloved son of Lucy (Carlucci) and Peter Gallotello.
In addition to his wife, two daughters, Lucille Harriman of Newtown and Janet Gallotello, and her husband Richard Lynch, of Danbury; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson survive Mr Gallotello. He is also survived by his four siblings; and was the devoted uncle of 18 nieces and nephews.
Mr Gallotello proudly served his country in the Army Air Force as a mechanic and gunner during World War II. He received a number of military honors, including three Bronze Stars and a medal for air combat. Following his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to the states and studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where he became educated in the trade of textile design and manufacturing. Mr Gallotello went on to design intricate lace patterns and the machinery necessary to produce patterned textiles, first in New York, then in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island, where he retired from Bruin Plastics in 2000.
Mr Gallotello was a man of great warmth and a gentle soul. He was a faithful Yankees fan, had a fondness for dogs, and was devout in his reading of the daily newspaper â always cover to cover. Those who knew him will most remember his infectious smile and his extraordinary singing voice, both of which he shared without hesitation.
The funeral mass took place November 8 at St Josephâs Church in Danbury.
