Seahawks Win Softball Tournament

The Connecticut Seahawks softball team, led by Newtown’s Megan Goyda and Katie Laaksonen, captured the 14U Adirondack Dome championship on Super Bowl Sunday.

The Seahawks beat out 12 teams from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut en route to the championship victory.

The team went 2-1 in pool play on Saturday with wins over the Lunachicks and Auburn Xtreme, and a loss to the Junction Girls.

The team faced a tough four-game schedule on Sunday and came out on top by beating the Bethlehem Boltz, Lady Vikings, and Duchess Debs before facing the East Coast Tsunami in the finals.

The Seahawks jumped ahead early in the pinnacle game, and held on to win by a score of 8-3.
