Gladys Emma Phillips

Gladys Emma Phillips, 94, of Roseland, Fla., died December 7 at Sebastian River Medical Center. She was born in Waterbury, resided in New Haven, and then moved to the lakeside community of Shady Rest in Sandy Hook.

She and her husband Ross became winter residents of Roseland and finally permanent residents in Roseland, 35 years ago.

Mrs Phillips had worked as a secretary at Holcomb Oil Company and then MacKenzie Engineering in Newtown, until her retirement. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Mirah Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Sandy Hook and member of the Roseland Women's Club.

Survivors include her daughter Anne P. Bellavita of Vero Beach; son Ross Moeller Griswold Phillips, Jr, and his wife Joan, of Vero Beach; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Her husband; parents Efraim and Emma Sweeney; and brothers Louis, Alfred, and Frederick Sweeney predeceased Mrs Phillips.

Services will be private.
