Josephine M. Lucas, 87, wife of Michael Lucas, Jr, of Sandy Hook, died February 11 at Maplewood of Danbury. She was a lifelong resident of Sandy Hook. She was born May 4, 1927, and was a daughter of the late Mary and Joseph Retz.

Mrs Lucas was employed at Fairfield Hills Hospital as a housekeeper for many years, until her retirement.

She enjoyed reading and gardening. This past January 15, Mr and Mrs Lucas celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.

In addition to her husband, a daughter, Susan Petty, and her husband Dennis, of Sandy Hook; a son, Michael Lucas III of Stratford; and two grandsons, John Petty of Roxbury and Robert Petty of Sandy Hook, survive Mrs Lucas.

Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Friday, February 13, from 5 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, Saturday, February 14, at 11 am. Interment in St Rose Cemetery will be in the spring.
