‘A Beacon Of Hope’

To the Editor:

Newtown, get ready to vote! Right before us, ready to go with a proven bipartisan reputation and results-oriented agenda, is Rebekah Harriman-Stites, local businesswoman, Board of Education member, and community organizer.

When something needs to be done, Rebekah is the woman to get it done, usually behind the scenes with little to no fanfare or acknowledgement. She’s a worker bee, one devoted to Newtown. Plus, she’s really nice. Being kind, compassionate, and friendly are important for sure, but Rebekah is a doer; she gets things done.

Rebekah has necessary conversations and researches, listens, and learns from every and any one willing to talk, debate, and negotiate the very best solution for the town we live in. She’s a successful small business owner whose business model is built around helping other businesses and nonprofits make the most of their money — qualifications that will ensure Connecticut’s economic budget and funding is protected, fair, and distributed equitably to the towns and taxpayers who fund it.

Rebekah does not blindly support candidates, budgets, or policies that don’t make sense for the community she represents — political party blame games have no part in economic growth, and Rebekah will ensure the bickering ends and solutions begin. Newtown and Connecticut will embark on a new path with this mindset — less ‘us’ vs ‘them’, and more ‘us’ and ‘we.’

I highly endorse Rebekah Harriman-Stites. She will take her roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-to-work ethic to Hartford and create concrete solutions to help Newtown prosper and grow and become a model for other Connecticut towns to look to for compassionate, creative prosperity to grow business, while always supporting education and community.

To make Connecticut a beacon of hope, we can start by electing Rebekah Harriman-Stites.

Thank you kindly,

Kate Mayer
