Red Light Cameras In Connecticut?

HARTFORD (AP) — Connecticut lawmakers are considering legislation that would allow cities and towns the option of installing traffic cameras at busy intersections to record and fine drivers who run red lights. Bill supporters say the cameras would increase traffic safety and could change driver behaviors. Opponents of the bill, however, argue that the cameras lead to more accidents and could violate a person’s right to due process.

A similar bill died in committee last year. Governor Dannel P. Malloy has said he supports the idea of red light cameras
