Auditions For ‘Oliver! The Musical’

DANBURY — Stage Door Productions will host auditions for Oliver! The Musical, the musical version of Charles Dickens’ tale Oliver Twist.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, May 7, at the Portuguese Cultural Center, 65 Sand Pit Road. Organizers are calling for singers, dancers and actors of all ages. Callbacks will be that evening.

The audition schedule is as follows:

Children ages 7 to 9 will be seen from 10 am until noon, and should be prepared to sing a song and dance a simple combination.

Students ages 10-16 will be seen from 1 to 3 pm. Be prepared to sing, learn a simple dance combination and to possibly read. The callback list for this age group will be posted by 3 pm, and anyone on that list will need to return to the cultural center that evening from 7 to 9 pm. This includes anyone interested in the roles of Oliver, Dodger or Fagin’s gang.

All interested actors ages 16 and up auditions for adult ensemble or principal adult roles will be seen between 3:30 and 5:30 pm. Be prepared to sing, dance and read. This group’s callback list will be posted by 5:30, so be prepared to return that evening if needed.

Rehearsals will be held on some weekends until mid-June and then mostly weekday evenings until the end of June until opening night on July 28. A specific rehearsal schedule will be posted weekly. Performances are scheduled for Fridays and Sundays, July 28 to August 13.

Those auditioning will be asked to inform the production staff of any conflicts for rehearsals or show dates at auditions. A recent bio and headshot is requested unless Stage Door Productions already has one on file.
