O’Lena

Francis E. O’Lena, 72, husband of the late Marian (Paproski) O’Lena, of 25 Huntingtown Road, Newtown, died December 6 at his home.

Mr O’Lena was born in St Albans, Vt., October 14, 1928, son of the late Albert and Nora (Griffin) O’Lena. He served as a corporal in the US Army in Korea and Japan with the 70th Tank Battalion of the First Calvary Division during the Korean War. Mr O’Lena also served in the Vermont National Guard. He was a member of the 70th Tank Battalion Association. A resident of Newtown since 1957, he was employed as a Gauge Calibrator for Dresser Instruments-Heise Plant until his retirement in 1991.

Mr O’Lena is survived by a son, Edward A. O’Lena of Southbury; a daughter, Sharon Woods of Newtown; a beloved friend, Yingli Wu of Newtown; three brothers, Harry O’Lena of St Albans, Vt., Thomas O’Lena of Schenectady, N.Y., and Kenneth O’Lena of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Arlene Krupp of St Albans, Vt.; and five grandchildren, Megan, Brendan, and Molly O’Lena and Candice and Drew Woods.

Funeral services were held December 11 in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery.
